Discuss the transaction before making commitments
Explain the amount, currencies, fund location, destination and payment deadline. Do not assume a particular limit, route or acceptance decision. Ask the team to confirm the service available for your circumstances.
Explain the purpose and source of funds
Education, relocation, property or investment-related funding may involve different supporting information. The team may ask how the transaction funds were obtained and for evidence consistent with that explanation. Ask for the specific requirements rather than sending an unrelated collection of documents.
Prepare consistent information
Check that the names, accounts, amount and purpose are consistent across your application and transaction documents. If funding comes from another person, a business or several accounts, explain the arrangement before paying.
- Identification and address information requested for the customer.
- Funding and recipient details, including relevant relationships.
- Documents supporting the source and purpose of the proposed funds.
- Any contract, deadline or special banking condition to discuss.
Understand review and timing
Additional checks, requests for information, receipt of funds and bank processing can affect timing. Agree how to provide further information and receive progress updates. An enquiry or document submission does not guarantee that the transaction will be accepted.
Confirm the payment arrangements
Before funding, confirm the quote, charges, payment instructions and what happens if a transaction cannot proceed. Do not divide a payment to avoid a requested review. Ask the team about an appropriate arrangement for the complete transaction.
